dvconnect provides free help for women, men, children and pets affected by domestic and family violence across Queensland. What is Domestic Violence?Domestic Violence is an abuse of power. It occurs when one person in an intimate relationship engages in behaviour that causes fear or harm to the other person. This can include physical violence, damage to property, non-consensual sexual contact, financial control, emotional manipulation and abuse, or threats to commit any of the above.
Quick Fact:3.5% of Queensland's population identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (ABS 2001 Census). In the last 3 months of 2004, 9.7% of calls recieved on the Women's DVLine were from women who identified as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
